The Art Hall St. John, in the historical center of the country, was founded by the will of the City, of the Parish of Saints Stephen and Worthy, the tourist office of Castiglione d'Orcia, to bring together and make it visible to the public on the five paintings Table performed by prominent Sienese artists of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, from the churches of Castiglione d'Orcia (Saints Stephen and Worthy, St. Mary Magdalene, Corpus Christi, St. John the Baptist) and Rocca d'Orcia (San Simeon, San Sebastian, Madonna di Manno). Only the early masterpiece by Pietro Lorenzetti, Madonna and Child, is kept in the Parish of Saints Stephen and Worthy, the only one still called upon to act as a devotional image, a very venerated with the title of "Our Lady of Grace." After long years of waiting and working, the small Art Hall, was inaugurated in 2006. Around the precious paintings on wood were collected sacred vessels and liturgical furnishings belonging to the churches and to the speakers of the two communities. Among the exhibits, in addition to traditional altar accessories, furnishings prevail linked to the cult and to the functions of the numerous brotherhoods in the area. The church of the Compagnia di San Giovanni Battista, home to the small museum and recently become property of the City, has undergone a painstaking renovation and restoration architettonicoe functional. The staging successful, was made with natural maple wood walls, equipped to collect paintings and furnishings. Other support elements in maple with iron fittings complement the interior design. The fiber optic light, cold light, with specifications suitable for the proper conservation of works of art, environment ensures an intimate and evocative. In the building of a single hall, the monumental altar is preserved stucco faux marble, with a richly decorated, with marbling almost entirely rebuilt during a recent restoration.
