Museo Di Palazzo Piccolomini

PIENZA

On the main floor of the Palazzo Piccolomini, Renaissance building , built thanks to Pope Pius II, designed by Rossellino, there are preserved many art works in several rooms and galleries: paintings and engravings that represent the members of the Piccolomini family, Neapolitan style XVIIIth century canvases , XVth and XVIIIth century furniture and wardrobes and also a rich arms collection ( halberds, stirrups and armours). The library is very interesting. It was originally used as a room for family reunions, it presently preserves rare books, incunabula, Papal edicts and a XVIIIth century armillary sphere.
