DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
Inside the Collegiate Church of Saints Quirico and Giulitta, there is a beautiful 15th-century altarpiece of the Madonna and Child with angels and saints against a gold background, attributed to Sano di Pietro.
On the left, Saint John the Baptist and Saint Quirico are recognizable, and on the right, Saint Fortunatus and Saint John the Evangelist.
The lunette, meanwhile, depicts the Resurrection and the Descent of Christ into Limbo.
The reworked predella depicts stories of the Virgin.
The Sienese artist created numerous altarpieces in his workshop, in which a codification of the images of the saints is often reflected in the painted stories, a lively style and delicate color palette.
