DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
Outpouring of Blood with the Blessing Redeemer, Four Angels, and Saints Michael the Archangel and Giles
Tempera on panel, 272 x 180 cm.
The panel depicts Christ standing before his tomb, from which he rose, holding the cross, while his blood flows from his side, falling into a ciborium placed on the floor after the transubstantiation. This mystery is represented here by the jet of blood and the painted host placed midway between Christ's side and the vessel. Kneeling beside him are the Archangel Michael and Saint Giles. In the lunette of the work, completing the symbolic representation of the Redemption, Christ the Savior of humanity appears half-length within the celestial sphere.
