Starting from Montalcino take the provincial road 14 and after 2.7 km, at the junction for Castiglione del Bosco, turn right. After another 900 meters continue to leave the asphalt and a gravel road, the main road 103. A short distance from the intersection we see on the left, the nineteenth-century Villa Le Prata and a little further to the right, the beautiful farm Rogarelli. After a further mile on the left is an impressive avenue of cypresses leading to Pumpkin House. Continuing for another five and a half kilometers, we find a tourist sign indicating the castle of Hermitage. Following the indication, we visit the magnificent castle and return to the main road to the left to proseguirea Castelgiocondo up to two kilometers, an ancient fortress dating back to the XII century. Looking back we continue the journey towards Buonconvento at a time of the Parish of St. Michael. At the junction turn left on the streets of the Bugatti or the Estate, about a kilometer to the one we get plenty of space so far encountered. Retrace the trail and back on the road to the junction of departure (Bugatti), from here we turn left and after two kilometers we reach Castiglione del Bosco. The small village of Castiglione del Bosco, located in an area probably inhabited by the Etruscans and Romans. After visiting the village we go to the right, for Badia Ardenga. Along another mile or so, we arrive in a stretch of road lined with cypress trees to the next junction turn right and continue for a rough road that borders some estates built in local stone. At the fork in the road turn right to reach Ardenga Abbey, the ancient Abbey of Vallombrosa monks founded in the eleventh century by the Counts dell'Ardenga. Taking up the path, after two miles on top of a steep hill, we find Montosoli house. The Villa is probably built on the remains of an ancient medieval fortress. The building, which is part of an agricultural property, preserves the old character. Back on Provincial Road No.45 we can again reach Montalcino.
