It is the main church of San Quirico and is located in Piazza della Libertà. It was built during the second half of the 14th century on the ruins of the ancient convent of San Francesco.
The church has been remodeled several times over the centuries. The current sanctuary was designed by engineer Cantucci and built between 1867 and 1870.
The church is flanked by a bell tower and has a travertine façade with an oculus above the entrance door.
A staircase leads to the entrance, where the interior consists of a single nave with four side altars. The main altar houses the Madonna Annunziata, attributed to Andrea della Robbia (early 16th century), originally from the rural chapel of Vitaleta.
Annually, on the first Sunday of September, a festival is held that is also popular with neighboring towns. The Madonna of Vitaleta was solemnly crowned on September 15, 1920, and since then, a solemn feast called the Festone has been celebrated every ten years, lasting about a week.
Among the works preserved on either side of the high altar are the Annunciation Angel and the Virgin of the Annunciation, polychrome wooden statues by Francesco di Valdambrino (early 15th century).
In the first altar on the right: the Visitation by Ventura Salimbeni (early 17th century); in the second altar on the left: a Crucifix from the Sienese school (first half of the 15th century); in the presbytery, on the walls next to the high altar are two of the four altarpieces depicting the Immaculate Conception and the Sermon of St. John the Baptist (1597), both attributed to Jacopo Chimenti, known as Empoli.
