Behind the collegiate church is the late Baroque Palazzo Chigi, built by Carlo Fontana for Cardinal Flavio Chigi.
It underwent a lengthy restoration lasting fifteen years, during which architects, restorers, scholars, and specialists in various disciplines worked together, under the direction of the Superintendencies for Architectural, Landscape, and Historical and Artistic Heritage of the provinces of Siena and Grosseto, in collaboration with the Municipality of San Quirico to restore this monument of great historical, architectural, and artistic value.
The restoration also allowed the palace, now home to municipal offices and the Tagliolini Foundation Center for the Study of Landscape and Gardens, to return to the representative function it has served over the centuries.
